Today’s post is sponsored by Twist. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.

This past month, I’ve been looking at ways to make my cleaning routine easier and more efficient. I shared my basic daily cleaning routine last week, and today I wanted to talk about how I organize my cleaning supplies. It may seem like a little thing, but having your cleaning supplies organized and accessible can make it so much quicker and easier to keep your home clean.

So…take a little time this week to think about how you store and organize your cleaning products. Hopefully these simple organization ideas will help you shave a little time off of your household chores and make your cleaning a breeze!

Organization Tips for Quick and Easy Cleaning

Declutter your cleaning products.

Just like anything else in the house, cleaning products and supplies will need a good decluttering every now and then. There’s no reason to keep items in your home that you don’t use – so get rid of them! If the product is still good, see if friends or family would use it or if it could be donated to any non-profit organizations or charities. If you do have to dispose of it, recycle what you can and dispose of the rest appropriately. If you have small amounts of product left in various bottles, combine them into one bottle {if it is the same product/brand} or commit to using up those bottles first before opening up a new, similar product.

Keep your cleaning supplies as close to where you use them as possible.

The less time it takes you to find your cleaning products, the more likely you’ll be to use them. As much as possible, store your bathroom cleaning supplies in your bathroom, your kitchen cleaning supplies under the sink {or other specific area of the kitchen}, etc. If you’re short on space, just store what you would need for a month’s worth of cleaning and keep the larger product bottles stored somewhere else in your home that has more room. I like using glass spray bottles {just be sure to label them well} to hold most of my regular cleaning products. It looks a lot tidier than multiple different shaped and colored bottles, and you can see exactly how much cleaning product you have left.

Purchase high quality cleaning supplies.

If you’re going to clean, you might as well love your cleaning products! Look for supplies that are known to hold up well over time and deliver the cleaning power needed to get the job done. I’m always looking for new products that will help to make my cleaning more efficient and was excited to discover Twist a couple of months ago. Twist is a natural cleaning product line that uses 100% plant-based materials in all of their cleaning tools. Their sponges are biodegradable and made from all-natural hemp, agave, and cotton fibers. They’re dye-free, glue-free, and look pretty darn cute to top it off! Best of all, they work really well at tackling all of that grime and baked on food messes.

The dish dumpling and loofah dishwand are a couple of my favorites from the line, but I’ve actually tried all of the products and love them all! I even bought a second dishwand to use in our bathroom to clean our bathtub and tiles {the scrub sponges also work great for this}. It’s always awesome when you find a brand that combines cleaning strength, good looks, and an eco-friendly design all into one product line! Minimize the amount of cleaning products that you use.

You don’t necessarily need a different cleaner for every little cleaning task. Look for products that are more versatile so they can be used for multiple tasks. Not only does this take up less space, but it also makes it faster to switch between cleaning tasks. Use the least amount of product as needed to get your cleaning task completed. More is not necessarily better! Using too much product can actually increase your cleaning time and any residue left behind can attract more dirt and grime leading to more frequent cleaning.

Optimize your storage.

If you’re short on space, look for creative storage options to keep those cleaning supplies handy. Adhesive hooks are great to hang cleaning cloths, towel bars can be used to hang items off ‘s’ hooks, and adhesive bins can hold larger items such as sponges or cleaning brushes.

Look for pretty ways to keep your cleaning supplies handy.

I find that if things are out in plain sight, I’m more likely to use them. It also makes it much simpler to put them away when I’m done. If you have items that are used regularly on a daily basis, consider keeping them out on the counter and look for pretty ways to display them to fit with your decor. A bathroom soap dish is much prettier than a kitchen sponge holder and works great to store my Twist eco-sponges.

Trays are another way to neatly corral cleaning products. They keep any drips from the bottles or sponges contained and can easily be moved off the counter for cleaning or to provide extra storage space when needed.

Put together a portable cleaning kit.

Take a little time to put together a basic cleaning kit in a portable caddy so it’s easy to carry your supplies to various spots around the house that you don’t have cleaning supplies stored. Make sure everyone in the house knows where it’s stored so they don’t have any excuses for not cleaning up if they make a mess! You can find some of my cleaning kit essentials HERE.
